Cam Myers is a landscape photographer whose work explores the raw, natural beauty of the Australian environment. Born and raised in Mount Martha, his practice is deeply shaped by the coastline of the Mornington Peninsula, a place he has connected with through surfing, free-diving, and a close interest of the local landscape and wildlife.
Cam has a particular fascination with night-time photography, originally using moonlight and (up to) 3-hour-long exposure times to light his images. Some of his more recent work has begun to evolve, incorporating artificial lighting techniques, including drone-based lighting, to allow him to light unique elements of the landscape in new and unexpected ways.
His latest short documentary, filmed on the Mornington Peninsula, is the second instalment in the A Way of Seeing series. Whilst his first film (produced in Tasmania in 2022), captured an exploration of an unfamiliar place, this new chapter offers a more intimate look at his home, focusing on the local perspectives and drawing on the knowledge of himself alongside artists Baden Croft and Liam Waldie. Together, the series reflects Cam’s ongoing interest in place, perspective, and the quiet moments that shape our connection to the natural world.
